my
personal life
Hi! I am Alicia. I am a born and raised Minnesota city girl. I enjoy running, lifting weights, cooking, baking, and spending quality time with friends and family. I am on a journey of making and finding the best matcha latte in the state of Minnesota. My Christian faith is a big part of my life as I enjoy engaging with my church community and serving in my church.
my background
I received my bachelor’s degree in psychology with minors in Child Advocacy Studies and Ethnic Studies from Winona State University. I received my master’s degree in counseling and psychological services from Saint Mary’s University of Minnesota. I began working in the field in 2019 as an intern at Family & Children’s Center working with third through fifth graders. After completing my bachelor’s, I worked at an autism therapy center working with children. In 2022, I decided I wanted to work with adults and began working in an adult mental health inpatient unit. A part of my mission as a therapist and advocate in the community is to break down the stigma of mental health so that all may receive freedom and hope. In the Christian sphere, I hope to bridge the gap between the church and psychology.
my specializations
I take a gentle approach to counseling and love to meet clients with where they are at in the journey of life. I am passionate about providing a welcoming and warm environment for everyone. I enjoy incorporating faith into sessions per client requests. I view therapy as a collaborative approach as the therapeutic process is a relational endeavor and could be the first place you have felt truly seen and heard. I welcome clients of all races, ethnicities, and cultures as I honor your identity and its strengths throughout therapy. I believe it is an honor and a privilege to walk alongside those in their journey of finding healing and peace while learning how to live life to the full. I utilize techniques from Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), and Internal Family Systems (IFS). At the request of a client, I can incorporate prayer into the therapeutic process with trauma and dissociation. I work with adolescents and adults who struggle with depression, anxiety, adjustment-related issues, trauma-related disorders, and those on the autism spectrum.
